Cable Car

I voted no to the cable car application submitted to Council, not because I am against a cable car, but because I believe each application presented to the Council must be assessed against the planning legislation and consider the expert opinion of Council planners.

My assessment of the application was that it was flawed. I based my decision, not on emotion nor a party line but on my thorough review of the application and the twenty one reasons for refusal provided by Council planners. A substantially amended cable car project application, which seeks to address the reasons for Council refusal, is now before the Tasmanian Planning Commission. If the Council were to be presented with another proposal, I would again judge the application on its merits.

That is what independence is all about — factual, evidence based and apolitical decision making.
